Private Servers for The Broken Script
The game page says it twice because public chat can summon your wipe.
The Roblox listing for The Broken Script — now A Broken Promise — tells you to use private servers for the best experience. That is not a monetization footnote. Slow horror dies in a 20-player public instance the moment someone pastes Integrity, opens a build GUI, or hunts you for a clip.
Why private is the default
- Chat is a trigger surface. Chat triggers were designed as solitary ARG tools. In public chat they are grief commands.
- Events are slow. A stranger sprinting at r2, breaking hello-blocks, and screaming in voice-adjacent text chat skips the paranoia the survival guide is built on.
- Exploits cluster in public. Crucifix spam, shutdown buttons, and universal fling hubs show up where random joins are allowed. Script safety.
- Server size is 20. That is a lot of people for a game about few entities. Null’s join message gets lost in actual joins.
- Bans exist. If someone exploits in your public server, you still lose the world even if you played clean.
How to open one
- Open the Roblox experience page.
- Use Roblox’s private/VIP server flow for that place.
- If VIP servers are not offered (
createVipServersAllowedhas been false on the universe), you cannot buy a reserved instance the normal way. Workarounds below. - Invite only the friends who understand “do not type Circuit for a joke.”
- Keep this wiki’s getting started link in the Discord so new invites do not skip TAB Settings.
If VIP is disabled
The universe snapshot for place 88131666518447 has shown VIP creation disabled. That matches player complaints that they cannot buy a private instance. Options:
- Play with a tiny friend group at off-peak hours and hop if a troll arrives.
- Use Roblox party / join-friend so you at least start together, then leave if the rest of the 20 slots fill.
- Host on a copy that enables VIP only if you accept that the copy’s commands and entity set may differ. Prefer the main listing when you can.
- Do not “make it private” with a server shutdown script. That is an exploit and a ban.
When VIP is enabled again, updates should note it. Until then, treat “private servers recommended” as a playstyle: small, trusted, ready to migrate.
Rules for a good private session
Agree before join:
- No executors.
- No mass chat triggers.
- One person documents, one person watches tab list.
- Hello-blocks stay un-broken until everyone read structures.
- Integrity fights are scheduled, not surprise bedrock bombs — how to beat Integrity.
If a friend shows up with ESP, they are not in the ARG with you. Kick, or move. Entity tools will otherwise become the session.
Public-server survival if you must
Mute chat if you can still see join messages. Do not answer strangers’ Integrity dares. Build away from spawn. Leave the instant a crucifix GUI or fling starts. Public is for screenshots, not for Null.
Private is how The Broken Script stays slow. That slowness is the difficulty.
Invites, hops, and reserved-server decay
When VIP is missing, hopping is a skill. The moment a stranger opens a GUI or pastes Integrity, you leave. Do not argue in chat. Do not try to “educate” a troll about Null. The entity roster will still be there in the next instance.
If Roblox puts you in a nearly empty public server, play as if it is private until the eighth join. At eight, the tab list is too noisy to trust. Migrate. Keep the getting started link in your party chat so new friends do not skip TAB Settings after the hop.
Reserved servers can still die when the last host leaves. Screenshot clan signs before that happens. Lore does not persist across a dead instance the way a Minecraft save would.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for The Broken Script on Roblox.
Are private servers required?
Required for the intended pace. Not always purchasable if VIP is disabled. See the workarounds above.
Can I get banned in a private server?
Yes. Exploits are still exploits. Script safety.
Is 20 players co-op?
It is online multiplayer up to 20. The horror still plays best with a handful of trusted people.
Do events scale with player count?
They get noisier. Null join messages hide in real joins. Smaller is better — how to find Null.
